Candy Robert-Houdin!

Meet CandyRobert-Houdin!

Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin, a French magician born in 1805, is widely considered the Father of Modern Magic.  He performed super elegantly in both manner and dress, and was known for, among many tricks, one pouring endless wine from a bottle, which I have tried with limited success to creatively represent here with a stack of gumdrops.  It's also said that all the magicians who wear tail coats when they perform today are still being influenced by him.  I read an amazing story about Robert-Houdin.  According to magic historian Milbourne Christopher, he was a clock maker and didn't start out in magic until age 40, flopped so badly from stage-fright in his first show he decided to never perform again and even went home and tore up all his posters, but then he went stubbornly right back to it after an annoying friend told him he was so bad, quitting was the right decision!  He went on to become a brilliant performer and have an illustrious career.  His lousy friend ended up with an even bigger career as a motivational coach!
