"Cindy's Winter in Amsterdam!"/Page 12

Cindy and Tiki visit a canal.  Sometimes when we got bored I would pretend I was a mermaid in one of Amsterdam's canals and I would trip innocent passersby into the water or turn them into frogs with my magical powers.  I was especially on the lookout for TV mentalists passing by because it's always good to specialize.  Tiki enjoyed my show but she didn't jump in, she mostly just made the frogs behave by meeping at them.

Cindy and Tiki bewitch Dam Square!  They used to burn witches in Dam Square long ago in the olden days--not very nice!  Now they don't anymore, so I think there are probably lots of witches out there going about their business glad of the new policy to not burn them.  I have always loved loved loved witches, storybooks about witches and TV witches and Halloween witches and witch hats and witch cats and witch socks and witch dolls, from the time of my earliest memories as a tiny girl when I would watch Bewitched reruns every day at noon, so why not be one for a day in spooky Dam Square--and for this picture!

Cindy and Tiki do yoga!  I like to do yoga, it's fun and it feels really good.  Tiki likes when I do exercises because she can get on my mat right where I'm trying to be and pretend she doesn't know it and when I try to move her she acts like a dead weight and rolls around and just won't move no matter what.  Her favorite exercise move is to get right under me when I'm doing sit ups or push ups, or to watch my ankle a little too closely when I'm waving my foot around like she'd like to pounce on it, so I start inching away and changing what I'm doing just to be safe, and then she does nothing but look like she tricked me.

Cindy and Tiki play in Dam Square!  Everwhere I go, if I ever see a giant ice cream cone, I get my picture taken pretending to lick it.  I first did it in Cologne and some ladies in an ice cream shop laughed and laughed, so of course you know what that meant, nothing will stop me now.  It is always crazy and fun posing for the pictures, you get a little crowd of people who have never seen someone pretend to lick a giant ice cream cone.  I love to skate, my parents met at a roller skating rink when my dad met this gorgeous red head who was really my brown haired mom standing under a red light!  By the time he figured it out, it was too late, she'd caught him!

Cindy and Joey and Tiki love pancakes!  In Amsterdam there are two kinds of pancakes to love.  There are tiny ones called Poffertjes, which are so delicious and since we weren't sure what else to do with them, we put butter and maple syrup on them every morning at breakfast.  Now we have a special pan to make them in at home.  At the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky you can also get this gigantic plate sized pancake called a Pancake Mathilda which is the absolute best thing on their menu and is named after the sister of the original owner and comes with powdered sugar and syrup.  Even Tiki loves them!  It's said that if you eat one maybe you'll see Mathilda's ghost!  Okay, it isn't really said, I made it up, but isn't it a fun idea?
