"Cindy's Winter in Amsterdam!"/Page 7

Cindy and Joey and Jake and Marc and Emma and Daisy grab a burger for lunch!  I think we're all probably still banned from the hamburger place where we ate in Amsterdam, or at least they've probably got our pictures up on the wall with a big NO FRENCH FRIES EVER next to them.  We left a gigantic mountain of french fries under our table!  Don't worry Daisy, I'm not telling who did it!  But they were very artistically arranged, I'm just saying!

Cindy visits Anne Frank.  From the time I was a girl and first heard about Anne Frank, the Jewish girl who kept a diary about hiding in a house in Amsterdam with her family during the war and ended up being turned in and dying in a concentration camp, I've always identified with her and felt terrible about what happened to her and wished so many times I could somehow go back and change how things came out for her.  After seeing the gloomy house where she hid in person, I felt just the same.  So I made this picture to do just that.  Here is Anne Frank in the real room where she hid during the war, how I wish things could have been for her instead.  There are windows that are open to the fresh air and nature and there are birds and flowers and pet cats and lots of books and a special friend visiting (me!) and a birthday cake for all the birthdays she didn't get to have, and some skates she can put on and go fly all over the world wherever she wants.  While I was making this gallery, the famous tree she always gazed at from her window got knocked down in a storm.  Wouldn't it be nice to think she didn't need it anymore because now she has this other happy ever after instead?

Cindy's friend Uri!  This is how I see Uri when I think of him:  saying a big positive "WOW!" about something he's excited about, smiling so kindly, wearing one of his trademark interesting graphic tee shirts, and always holding a Blackberry!  Just for fun I gave him two here!  He can send me a picture of a cat on one and tweet a picture of his pet greyhound Barney on the other!

Cindy and her friend Hanna!  This is how I picture Hanna when I think of her:  her gorgeous red pixie hair, her lovely fair complexion, her incredibly fun and individual sense of style, on the go shopping someplace fabulous for something to wear for a special event like an evening with Carla Bruni, and with an amazing story to tell over a cup of tea like having just ran into Ursula Andress coming out of a cathedral!  One evening in Amsterdam Joey and I were eating pizza in our favorite little place and a simply beautiful lady walked by very properly out on the sidewalk carrying the prettiest eye-catching umbrella, I think it was clear plastic with white scrolled designs all over it, shaped like a dome.  I admired her as she passed, thinking there went a lovely lady, and then realized I knew her--it was Hanna!  In case you don't know who Hanna is, she's Uri's wife!

Cindy and her friend The Shipster!  This isn't really how I picture Shipi, although masses of times I have indeed seen him sitting at a computer being some kind of technological genius.  How I really picture Shipi is sitting at the breakfast table making funny faces and saying hilarious things that crack me up, and trying to get someone--anyone!--to bring him a large cappuccino, without much luck!  Here for you Shipi is an extra large cappuccino, and your favorite candy, and some champagne, and even a cute teddy bear!  Finally, some 5-star service!  Look, I even dressed up for the occasion!  In case you don't know who Shipi is, he's Uri's manager and Hanna's brother--that makes him a manager-in-law!
